During the Victorian era, Britain became the richest nation in the world. Elaborate houses were built in quantity, and factories replaced carpenters in making doors and stairs. Victorian factories often employed skilled model makers to create Salesman Samples in miniature. These architectural models, finely detailed and highly sculptural, are very collectible and valued at international antique auction houses such as Sotheby's. We've always wanted to do a collection of miniature staircases. Interesting in their own right as decor and sculptural statements, as desk or wall objects, they double in function to display collections of crystal and silver antiques and collectibles.
